What Does It Mean To Be An Internet President? - O'Reilly Radar
http://radar.oreilly.com/2009/01/what-does-it-mean-to-be-an-internet-president.html
Quietly at noon yesterday, as the world was fixated on the televised inauguration of Barack Obama, some obscure IT managers flipped a switch (metaphorically) and transferred Change.gov to Whitehouse.gov... While the inauguration spectacle was inspiring and the speech lived up to its promise, Whitehouse.gov is the herald of bigger changes. Government is entering the Internet age and Barack Obama is our first Internet president.

Grown Up Digital " Campaign energized by young people'
http://www.grownupdigital.com/index.php/2009/01/campaign-energized-by-young-people/
Of all the inauguration balls last night Obama was clearly most energized by the “Youth Ball.” President Barack Obama wowed a crowd of nearly 7,000 when he made his way onstage during the “Be the Change: Live From the Inaugural” at the Hilton Washington on Tuesday (January 20). With his wife, Michelle Obama, by his side, the president thanked the legions of young Americans who worked to make sure that he became the 44th president of the United States.

The Open Source Force Behind the Obama Campaign | Linux Journal
http://www.linuxjournal.com/content/open-source-force-behind-obama-campaign
JFK said "Victory has a thousand fathers, but defeat is an orphan." So I'm here to claim Linux-based geek paternity for the successful presidential campaign of Barack Obama. The geeks didn't do it alone, of course. But their role was huge.
I had been following that role ever since covering the Howard Dean Presidential Campaign back in '03-04 for Linux Journal. Get your flashbacks at Saving the Net, The Syndication Solution, Letters from the Campaign Pressure Cooker, Hacking Democracy, Lessons on Open Source Politics from the Campaign Forge — in that order.

LittleSis " Purpose
http://www.littlesis.org/purpose
It's easier than ever to spot the symptoms of corruption and cronyism in our political process. Ordinary Americans have never felt more shut out from all levels of government, more excluded from economic gains, and more powerless to remedy the problems facing their communities and the world. Meanwhile, the powerful networks of individuals who've enjoyed unprecedented influence, wealth, and access while steering our country towards its present crisis continue to elude responsibility in the public spotlight.
We all know that the need for fundamental change is urgent. Americans everywhere are pushing back against a broken system that bankrupts and disempowers them. But to effectively push back, we have to study and document the social networks that have our democracy in a stranglehold. We have to expose the individuals and institutions that abuse their power to enrich themselves and their cronies. And we have to make common cause and share this information freely. Given the lack of confidence in the economy and the measures taken by the current administration, as well as Congress, providing more transparency into the budget process and bailouts would be helpful to the national psyche. You can expect Obama to use his online TV channel to further change the course of history.

Google CEO: Internet spurred Obama's nomination | Politics and Law ...
http://news.cnet.com/8301-13578_3-10028349-38.html
Google Chief Executive Officer Eric Schmidt said on Thursday that the Internet gave presidential candidate Barack Obama the ability to bypass traditional media and claim the Democratic nomination. Schmidt showed up at the Democratic convention here on Thursday to field questions about politics, how Google is influencing online journalism, and the company's policies on privacy. During an appearance at the literal and figurative Big Tent, a blogger workspace sponsored by Google and Digg.com, Schmidt said that Web sites like YouTube allow politicians to connect more directly with voters.
